在2019香港城市\建築雙年展，主辦單位針對雙年展的碳排放情況作出了一份碳足跡報告，為未來香港及世界同類型活動的碳排放執行、追蹤及分析，提供了一連串的策略及指引。

這前所未有的報告，不但是討論、挑戰及重新定義碳排放議題的重要里程碑，亦提出了一些值得深思的問題：實體裝置所帶來的廢物量 VS 數碼展示的能源消耗；地理、交通、能源供應、現場重用物料的可能性等條件，對展場位置選擇的影響；實體、線上抑或複合模式；展品篩選對原創性及重用已有作品的考量；如何衡量活動的教育和社會價值，同時在碳濃度之間作出取捨。

CC#14 - (Useful) Data Collection for Benchmarking Sustainable Exhibitions

The most recent Hong Kong Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (UABBHK2019) delivered a Carbon Footprint Study on the carbon intensity of the biennale itself. It provided strategies to improve the implementation, tracking and analysis of similar future events in Hong Kong and around the world, all with the aim of reducing their carbon emissions.

As well as setting a benchmark and precedent for others to discuss, challenge and refine, the study raised some serious questions about the waste created by physical installations vs the energy use of digital presentations; the choice of location in relation to geography, connectivity, energy sources and opportunities to reuse materials in-situ; in-person vs online and hybrid events; exhibit selection criteria in terms of the balance between originality and reuse of existing exhibits; and the evaluation of educational and social values against actual carbon intensity figures.
